Israel and the Palestinian organization Hamas fought in the third month. Today, the United States vetoed a resolution brought to the United Nations asking for a ceasefire on humanitarian grounds.
UN SECURITY COUNCIL
13 member states of the Security Council voted in favor of the resolution brought by the United Arab Emirates. Britain abstained from voting. After the veto, Robert Wood, the US deputy ambassador to the United Nations, said, “Hamas will remain in power in Gaza if the Israeli military operation stops now. As a result, the seeds of another war will be sown. The Security Council has not strongly condemned Hamas.”
Robert Wood wants peace between the two countries. Let there be lasting peace in that area. But the ceasefire called for in this proposal will not last. As a result, the seeds of another fight will be sown.” According to him, “This proposal has nothing to do with the actual situation. As a result, not a needle actually moved.” Israel’s ambassador to the United Nations, Gilad Erdan, said, “A ceasefire is only possible if all hostages are released and Hamas is destroyed.”
“The damage is being done,” the Palestinian envoy told the Security Council. The lives of millions of Palestinians hang in the balance. Every life is worth saving.”
Criticizing America’s actions, Hamas said, “The US’s obstruction of the cease-fire proposal is directly aiding the occupation forces in the genocide of Palestinians.” This will lead to more genocide. An attempt would be made to completely wipe out a population.”
On the other hand, 10 people were killed in an Israeli attack in Khan Younis, southern Gaza today, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health. In addition, the Israeli forces made an unsuccessful attempt to rescue the hostages from an area. Two Israeli soldiers were injured. Hamas said its fighters foiled the attempt.
Israeli army drones also attacked southern Syria on this day. Three members of the Hezbollah organization were killed. In another incident, three Lebanese soldiers were wounded by Israeli forces.
Experts fear that anti-Semitism is increasing all over the world due to the Israeli campaign. Before the start of the Jewish festival of Hanukkah on this day, a man fired two shots from a shotgun in front of the Jewish place of worship ‘Temple Israel’ in Albany, the capital of the state of New York. No one was injured. Police said that before they reached the spot, a local man talked to the gunman and calmed him down. Later, while taking him into custody, the gunman shouted slogans in favor of ‘Free Palestine’. The FBI is investigating the incident.
