The sun rises in the west

The sun rises in the west. Not a silly story. Yes, there are places in our solar system where the sun rises in the west and sets in the east, and the sun rises only twice a year. And 225 days is one year of this planet. Not a fairy tale, but as true as daylight.

The sun rises in the west

One such strange planet is our Earth’s neighbor Venus.

This star can be seen in the west in the evening sky after sunset. It then appears brighter than other stars. It is named Sandhyatara because it can be seen in the evening sky. When this planet is again seen in the east in the morning sky before sunrise, it is called Shuktar. The ancient Greeks considered Sandhyatara and Shuktaara to be separate. They named them Hesperose and Phosphorus respectively. And the Romans named the planet Venus after their goddess of beauty and love Venus.

The closest planet to us is Venus. The name Shuktar is not a star at all, but a large planet, almost the size of our earth, called Venus or Venus. Earth and Venus are called ‘twin sisters’, because they are very close, very close in appearance and size. The radius of Earth is only 320 km greater than the radius of Venus. The ‘bodies’ of the two ‘sisters’ are of almost the same substance; As a result, their gravitational force is almost equal. 9.8 meters of Earth; And Venus is 8.87.

Earth takes about 24 hours to rotate once around its axis. During this period, the part of the earth facing the sun is day and the side facing the sun is night. And the year? The earth orbits the sun once in 365 days. A year goes by like this. Venus’ days are longer than her years. How is that possible?

Venus or the ‘Shukta’ rotates very slowly on its axis, taking 243 days for one revolution. This means that one day on Venus is equal to 243 days on Earth. It takes 224.70 days to complete one orbit around the Sun. This is not the end of the joke, all the other planets in our solar system rotate from west to west or counterclockwise so the sun rises in the west. But Venus rotates counter-clockwise ie from east to west. So there the sun rises in the west and sets in the east. Even more interestingly, Venus has a sunrise once every 117 days – that’s only twice a year on Earth! The pressure of Venus’ atmosphere is about 90 times that of Earth’s atmosphere. Venus has no satellites. Each planet in the solar system is named. Each planet is named after a Roman or Greek god. Only Venus is named after the goddess Venus. Venus is second in distance from the Sun, after Mercury; But Venus is the hottest in the solar system.

Venus is very hot. 453 degrees Celsius! All metals known to us will melt in such heat. Why so hot? Because the planet’s surface is rocky and the atmosphere is full of carbon dioxide and sulfuric acid vapors. Because of this dense gas mantle, heat cannot ‘evaporate’ at night. The night is short. So day after day the planet gets hotter. And because it is so hot, it looks so bright – just like a hot iron in a fire.

The two brightest celestial objects in the night sky are therefore the Moon and Venus; So bright that its shadow can be seen in the sky even during the day.

Venus is beautiful, but the planet has volcanoes like ‘poison boils’ all over its body. It can also be seen from Earth. Besides, there are numerous volcanoes covered with beautiful faces like ‘pimples’. There are only two non-satellite planets in our solar system, one is Venus, the other is Mercury.
