Existence of water on Mars

Existence of water on Mars. There is no end to our interest in Mars, the nearest planet to earth. Various countries of the world, especially America, have planned to send astronauts to this neighboring planet. But before that, a small rover or vehicle has been sent by spacecraft to get detailed information about this planet. America has already landed a rover called Curiosity on Mars. Analyzing the data sent from the American rover, the American space research agency NASA said that there was an indication of the presence of a small amount of water on the ground of Mars. This time, the rover Jurong sent by China has got a stronger proof of that information. Computer analysis of the data sent by the Chinese rover has shown that there is much more water on Mars than the small amount of water that was first found on Mars. And having proof of water means where life will exist.

Existence of water on Mars

Chinese space researchers believe that life is likely to exist in parts of Mars where the temperature is higher than other areas. However, scientists believe that more research is needed in the future to be more sure. Science called Science Advances. Chinese space researchers have detailed the existence of water in the Martian soil in a research paper. In an interview given to the press about this, Professor Xiaoguang Qin of the Institute of Geology and Geophysics of China said that the Martian soil is believed to have a very thin layer of water.

However, China’s rover did not find direct evidence of anything like snow or ice. But data sent by the rover has been analyzed and data from other Mars spacecraft has also been examined. There is evidence that all kinds of environments for the existence of water exist on that planet. Several cracks and ridges have been found on the red planet Mars. China’s rover Jurong also sent images of the crack. Analyzing it, scientists estimate that this rift on Mars is 14 to 400,000 years old or more.

For more than a year, Jurong traveled to that part of Mars to collect soil samples. After that, the soil sample was analyzed by the researchers using the computer. That rift on Mars indicated the existence of water. This suggests that there was water in that part of Mars at some point 400,000 years ago or later. A thin layer of that water may still exist on the Martian soil. Hints of the existence of this water brightened the prospect of finding life.

According to scientists, more details are needed about this. Communication with the rover sent by China has been lost recently. China’s space research agency said there is no possibility of establishing that communication. Zhang Rongqiao, chief designer of China’s Mars mission program, said they have been trying to communicate with the rover every day. But the response

did not match It appears that the small amount of electricity the rover needs to communicate is not being generated by the rover. Because sunlight is not reaching enough of its solar panels. As a result, its battery cannot be charged.

Also, Martian dust covering the solar panels may not be able to charge the batteries. So for the time being, the scientists think that the rover will never be contacted again. Incidentally, this motorized rover has been named Jurong after the Chinese god of fire.

The rover was previously put into ‘sleep mode’ in May 2022 to protect it from the sun’s radiation in the Martian atmosphere. It was launched again in December. This time, however, Chinese scientists have not found a way to keep it running. But it goes without saying that the information sent by Jurong will become more important in future Mars missions.
