A group of French researchers found white hydrogen while searching for methane. In search of Fossil fuel, a group of researchers from the University of Lorraine was conducting excavations in a mine in the north-east of France. Although they did not find methane as expected, what they got was completely unexpected. Scientists believe that this discovery could turn the tide in dealing with the climate change crisis.
Jacques Pironon and Philippe de Donato, two scientists from France’s National Center of Scientific Research, discovered a huge deposit of white hydrogen in the mining area of Lorraine, while searching for methane gas. About 60 lakh to 25 crore metric tons of white hydrogen is stored at a depth of 1250 meters in the ground. which is still the largest deposit of white hydrogen ever found.
This hydrogen is produced naturally underground. It is seen as ‘clean energy’ or environmentally friendly fuel. Because burning white hydrogen produces water, it does not create pollution. That is why this hydrogen is given the name ‘white’.
