Nato comments: Member countries angry at Trump . His anger is long-standing that all NATO member countries do not bear the cost of this military group equally. In fact, he threatened to pull out of NATO several times during his presidency. Once again former American President Donald Trump is blasphemy about NATO. Appearing at a campaign rally in Conway, South Carolina last Saturday, Trump said he would ask Russia to attack NATO member countries that do not pay a certain amount every year. And if that’s the case, that means if the enemy actually attacks those member countries, NATO forces won’t go to their aid at all.
He is one of the Republicans’ favorite candidates in this year’s presidential election. Most of the European countries are angry with Trump’s comments. His own Democratic administration is also critical of Trump. Many countries say that this comment of his is completely against Article 5 of the NATO agreement. That clause clearly states that an attack on a single member state will be considered as an attack on all. And all countries will try together to prevent that attack.
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg expressed his anger without naming Trump. In his words, “Member countries will not help each other – any such suggestion will raise questions about our own security.” America will not be left out of that list.”
In this controversy, Trump again sought legal protection at the door of the American Supreme Court. A few months ago, a lower court said in its ruling that the trial against Trump could continue. Just because he was the president of America, he is not above all laws. And like five ordinary citizens, he can be prosecuted in the court. Trump appealed to the Supreme Court to dismiss the lower court’s ruling. According to his lawyers, the presidential election is a few months later. In this situation, repeated court appearances will disrupt Trump’s campaign against Joe Biden. Now the question is, will the Supreme Court uphold the judgment of the lower court, or will the judges accept Trump’s plea. For the time being, the Supreme Court did not agree to stay the lower court verdict. The next hearing is in a few months.
