Telescope under the sea

Telescope under the sea . As we know, telescope is a means of seeing planets and stars from the earth or outside the earth. But underwater telescopes are not used that way. A periscope is used in submarines to see objects in the water. But this time, our neighboring country China is going to install a large-scale telescope 11,500 feet below the western Pacific Ocean.

Telescope under the sea

The installation of the telescope will be completed by 2030. But what is the need to suddenly place the telescope under water? Zhu Donglian, the chief scientist of this Chinese telescope project, answered that question. It will probe neutrinos underwater, he said. In other words, China is going to install this telescope to know the various events happening in the ocean. Chinese scientists named this telescope Hai Ling. Although it has a more fancy name. That is the Tropical Deep Sea Neutrino Telescope or TRIDEN. Now the question is what is neutrino and why are Chinese scientists trying to see it with telescopes. In this regard, they said, neutrinos are a type of small neutral particles that cannot be seen with the naked eye. It cannot be mixed with any substance. Although this neutrino is considered to be the cause of the creation of the universe. That is why, by testing this neutrino, various information can be known from the explosion in space to the creation of the earth. That is why it can be said that Chinese scientists are trying to know many unknown secrets of the universe by researching neutrinos. This huge Chinese telescope will have more than 24,000 optical sensors. 1211 strings will be laid deep in the ocean. This string is 2300 feet long. It will be held in a special way from the bottom of the sea to the surface of the water. The telescope will examine neutrinos in an area up to 30 cubic kilometers around it.

Incidentally, the world’s largest neutrino detector is now installed at the Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station in Antarctica. It is probing neutrinos in an area of 1 cubic kilometer. The new telescope that will be installed underwater in China in 2026 will be much more powerful. By 2030, it will complete its installation under the sea.
